## Workflow

1. Auction listings are ingested from a supported run list, CSV upload, browser capture, or integration.
2. Vehicles are normalized and compared with buyer preferences.
3. Retail comparable vehicles are matched, scored for similarity, and filtered for outliers.
4. The platform derives market-value estimates and comp confidence.
5. Purchase price and auction fees are combined into landed cost.
6. Low, median, and high profit scenarios are calculated against retail comps.
7. A maximum safe bid is calculated from the user's target margin.
8. Risk flags and an A-through-D deal grade summarize the opportunity.
9. Matching buyers and configured alerts are attached to the opportunity.

## Scoring concepts

The Auction Opportunity Score ranks an entire upcoming sale from 0 to 100 using buyer-match volume, strong-match quality, the number of distinct buyers represented, sale timing, and the strength of the best match. It helps a buyer decide which sale deserves time.

The individual Deal Grade evaluates a particular vehicle. Its composite weighting is 50% profit potential, 30% comparable-vehicle confidence, and 20% risk assessment. Deal grades run from A through D. Supporting calculations and risk flags remain visible so the result can be reviewed rather than treated as a black box.

## Financial calculations

- Landed cost combines acquisition price and applicable auction fees.
- Profit range compares landed cost with low, median, and high retail-comp estimates.
- Maximum safe bid works backward from a selected target margin.
- Retail comps are matched by relevant vehicle attributes and filtered for statistical outliers before market percentiles are derived.

All values are estimates for decision support. Users remain responsible for inspection, title review, fees, transportation, reconditioning, and final purchase decisions.
